Miami. Durban Segnini Gallery presents Rhythms of Geometry, a solo exhibition by Venezuelan artist Inés Silva (Caracas, 1970), on view since August 22 and through October 30, 2026 at the gallery, 3072 SW 38th Ave, Miami, FL 33146.
The exhibition brings together reliefs, columns, folding screens and suspended structures in Plexiglas: airy, luminous, almost musical works in which mobile planes and rotating or hanging elements interact with light. They are pieces meant to be walked around, combining transparency, movement and color. Some of the columns reach 2.26 m (7 ft 5 in) in height.
Trained as an architect at the Universidad Central de Venezuela, Silva draws on mathematical schemes (the golden ratio, the Fibonacci spiral and Le Corbusier’s Modulor) to build pieces that change depending on where they are seen from or how they are handled. Art historian Domitille d’Orgeval writes in the catalogue:
“Ines Silva’s works never give themselves up at a single glance; each emerges in space and in time, to the rhythm of movement and interaction. […] Far from an autonomous abstraction, they make perception itself the true setting of her work.”
Critics place her work in dialogue with the Constructivist experiments of Naum Gabo, Antoine Pevsner and László Moholy-Nagy, and with the geometric and kinetic avant-garde of the 1950s–1970s: the Madí group, Soto, Agam and Lygia Clark.
Catalogue presentation. On Saturday, October 17, from 6 to 9 pm, the gallery will present the exhibition catalogue, with the artist and Venezuelan artist and cartoonist Rayma Suprani. The 36-page publication, in English, includes d’Orgeval’s essay, photographs by Antonio Chagin and design by Andrea Moratinos.
